I am running for Corresponding Secretary because I care about clear communication, inclusive accessibility, and dissemination of knowledge & information within the entire organization, and the public, as my goals & mindset have consistently been driven towards collective knowledge-sharing. I've been charged with administering COPE's Discord community since February 2025, and I've been also been informed that COPE's internal communication network needs to be updated for our current digital age.

I seek to formally work with the executive board & volunteers to build/improve systems on which we communicate/discuss the many issues and policies that inform operations & decision-making with as much transparency and accountability that can be afforded, without sacrificing security due to malicious entities that may wish to work against COPE, as it seems that the dissemination of information between our elected members and the external community / public-at-large needs to be improved.

Relevant experience:
- (2023) Good Night Out Vancouver - I wrote (most of) an employee training manual;
- (2013-2014) Co-Chair of Pride UBC - I proposed & rewrote its constitution to become a formal Collective, and implemented a platform for Project Management; and,
- (2009-2010) "Wore all Hats" as PrideUNBC President to establish the first Pride Centre in Prince George.

Elected Member-At-Large in 2024, Appointed Interim Treasurer by the Executive following the resignation of the Treasurer according to the COPE Constitution Part 4, 7 (c). He must be formally elected to fill out the remainder of the 2-year term.

I’m a filmmaker, born and raised in East Vancouver and the stolen lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. I received my BFA from SFU (2010) and my MA in Dispute Resolution from UVic (2017). I currently rent in Fairview with my husband and cat.

I live with both type 1 diabetes and MS, and believe living with chronic illnesses has made me a more empathetic, diligent, and scrappy individual.

In 2018, I wrote/directed the feature doc The Rankin File about COPE legend Harry Rankin. I then produced Jean Swanson’s campaign video, before going on to write/direct a short documentary about Jean for Hot Docs Citizen Minutes.

Over the past year, I’ve been active around Broadway Plan resistance and the forced displacement of tenants, loss of affordable housing, and destruction of community. This work led me to get more involved with COPE, and I’m proud to have helped out with Sean’s campaign.

I’m skilled with research, organizing, and communications. As a MaL, I want to continue the momentum from Sean’s win, and ensure COPE has a strong presence on council in 2026 in order to fight for tenants’ rights, for climate justice, and against corruption at city hall.

My name is Natalie and I’ve been living in South Vancouver my entire life. I believe that the people in this city and on this unceded land are what makes it great, and that our services and infrastructure should serve the incredible working class that makes our neighbourhoods and communities so rich. A city that doesn’t work for everybody works for nobody.

I enjoy challenging people to care more because I believe if enough people care we can do anything. It doesn’t have to be the same thing forever and then we die - we can change things rapidly in a matter of years with the right strategies and we owe it to eachother to try.

I have a background in UX, website, and information design but most importantly I increasingly can’t accept the injustices suffered under capitalism and am motivated to change things for the better as soon as humanly possible.

I want to utilize my social skills and design knowledge on the Research and Communication / Membership and Organizing Committees.

“I was first elected to the Vancouver Park Board as a COPE commissioner in 1990 and reelected in 1993 (in those days, it was a 3 year term). I was then elected to Vancouver city council as a councillor in 1999 and reelected in 2002. I am inspired by Che Guevara. Harry Rankin, one of the founders of COPE, was my mentor. He was a Vancouver City Councillor for over 20 years. I want to continue sitting on the COPE Executive in order to help COPE win majorities in 2026 on city council, the school board, and park board.”

Ray has been a member of COPE since shortly after moving back to Vancouver in 2019. He was an election canvas organizer for the Grandview Woodland and Hasting-Sunrise neighbourhoods in the 2022 election and the 2025 byelection. Ray regularly promotes COPE campaigns and petitions between elections at community tables. Ray has been a member-at-large on the COPE executive since the 2022 AGM and is running for the same position again.

Ray is a member of Socialist Alternative Canada, a socialist political organization with members across Canada that has been the backbone of the COPE election ground-game in Grandview-Woodland since 2017. Ray and Socialist Alternative believe that the working-class needs an independent political voice that fights for the interests of workers and renters both within and outside of the official electoral systems of our capitalist society. Socialist Alternative in Vancouver wants to help build COPE into the broadest possible coalition of the labour movement and working-class political activists to fight to take profit out of housing, for high-quality publicly owned housing guaranteed regardless of ability to pay, free transit for all, and more.
