COPE stands with BCGEU against austerity
The Coalition of Progressive Electors stands in solidarity with public service workers in Vancouver and across British Columbia taking strike action.
COPE is always on the side of workers.
We support the BCGEU and its members in their fight for a fair and equitable collective agreement.
All workers need fair wages, especially given the dire crisis of housing and affordability in this city and province.
Specifically, we support the BCGEU’s demands which include competitive wages, fair access to telework, a modernized contract with a classification system that more fairly values their work, and a limit on non-union managers.
There is an alternative to the austerity that the billionaires, the super-rich, and governments across the country are seeking to impose. But we have to fight to win it.
That’s why, in addition to campaigning in elections, COPE and its members support and participate in labour and social movements working for fairer taxes, higher wages, economic democracy, better public services, and a more just society.
When we fight, we win. See you on the picket lines.
