In the 2018-2022 term, COPE representatives introduced bills to all three levels of civic government to make transit free for kids 12 and under. This measure succeeded, and in 2021, it was implemented by the Province of BC and Translink.

Petition: Close the Vacancy Loophole to Protect Affordable Apartments
COPE stands for taking bold action to end the housing crisis and make housing truly affordable for the people who need it.
BC’s rental regulations have a huge loophole: Landlords jack up rents between tenants, depleting our affordable housing stock when people move. It makes life in Vancouver unaffordable.
But there’s a type of rent control which closes that loophole. It’s called Vacancy Control, and it was even implemented in BC in the 1970s. By enacting it in Vancouver, we can cool the out-of-control rental market and make it easier to keep living in Vancouver.
